Mark your calendar for Sunday, October 23 from 1:00 to 5:30pm for an East meets West battle at The Penthouse in midtown Manhattan. Doors open at 12:30pm.
Two of ALHC’s favorite Big Bands face off to battle for the ALHC crown. Performing individually and jointly, the rival bands playing tunes from the greater Swing Era that made the greatest generation swing!
Imagine the electricity that will fill the room as these band legends come face to face in a friendly East Coast versus West Coast grudge match competition.
The George Gee Swing Orchestra deeply enjoys its hard-earned reputation as the swingin’-est, blowin’-est, heppest classic big band in New York City. In more than 30 years of playing for dancing feet, the George Gee Swing Orchestra band has developed a special bond with lindy hoppers all around the world.
Chester Whitmore has directed the Opus One Big Band for more than 30 years. The band, based in Los Angeles, California USA specializes in big band music from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s and excels in playing Fletcher Henderson and Andy Kirk charts. Praised for the authenticity of their sound they are a favorite dance band throughout southern California.
