About the Event

On all the other 2nd Tuesday’s of the months, we are announcing FLBS — Fast Lindy, Bal, and Shag playtime!

What does playtime mean?

The music will go non-stop at 200BPM and above all night long, perfect for those of you working on your “FL,” “B,” and “S.” For a mere $5 entrance fee, attendees can…

Treat it as a social dance
Use it to practice
Play around with ideas with fellow dancers
Hang out and talk with old and new friends while you watch people sweat

Ideally, all four. We will try some fun ideas randomly during each session to mix it up, but the bulk of the time will be dancers making the space what they want to with it. Literally, think of it as a “playtime.”

How is this different from the YSBD Bal Practice?

Leslie de Giere‘s 3rd Tuesday Bal Practice is the perfect space for dancers to immerse themselves in their Balboa specifically. Since NYC has a rich community of many different fast dancing folks, we wanted to offer an additional space where ALL lovers of ALL the fast swing dances can come together and get to know each other and work with each other. Unite the fronts!

Can we practice Air Steps in this space?

Alas, no! Space allowed, we may allow certain partner-held-and-supported tricks to be practiced, but no steps where people are in free-flight. We may make exceptions for jams, but we will announce so at the time.
