Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Requirement: Fluency with Lindy Hop moves including 8 count, 6 count and Charleston. Some experience with air steps and fast dancing is a plus!
In this performance class, students will learn a fast paced, high intensity choreography for our new and improved show “Swing into the Past – A Night at the Savoy,” an interactive dance theater produced by Project Connect. Students will join the main cast and be part of a public presentation later in the year.
Project Connect brings an interactive dance theater to underserved communities including nursing homes and NYC public schools showcasing authentic Lindy Hop while educating the history and cultural contexts of the dance. www.danceprojectconnect.com
The routines that students will learn include traditional Lindy Hop movements, air steps, and solo jazz movements. Students will not only learn the routine, but also acquire the technique of fast dancing, simple air steps, partnerships as well as performance skills.
After completing this workshop, if interested, students have opportunities to continue to perform as Project Connect company members.
If you are passionate about dancing and performing, and would like to dedicate your time and energy to share the joy of dancing with underserved communities, we highly recommend trying out this training!
