Foundation 1 – Taster with Ryan Francois & Rachel McMullin Time: 11:30 am – 1 pm
In this session, explore the differences between fundamental and stylistic approaches in dance. Learn to identify and differentiate fundamental steps from stylistic ones, and understand why a firm grasp of foundational framework is essential for your dance journey. Get a glimpse of Ryan’s foundational methodology, refined through 40 years of studying and adapting the mechanics of Lindy Hop and other dances.
Insights to Jazz Music and Dance as a Shared Language – from a Master Musicians Perspective with Gordon Webster & Ryan Francois Time: 1:15 – 2:45 pm
Join this exciting collaboration between Gordon and Ryan. In the first half of a double header led by Gordon, you’ll focus on music appreciation for dancers. Start learning the language of music, just like any language, through conversation!

Insights to Jazz Music and Dance as a Shared Language – from a Master Dancers Perspective with Ryan Francois & Gordon Webster Time: 12 – 1:30 pm
In the second half of the double header, led by Ryan, explore how different interpretations of the music’s language can change the feel of a step by shifting syncopations. Gain a deeper understanding of interpreting music and translating it into movement.
Foundation 2 – Taster with Ryan Francois & Rachel McMullin Time: 2 – 3:30 pm
Continue your fundamentals journey with this follow-up session. Here, you’ll learn about partnering, balance, control, and technique. Improve your body awareness, balance, and control with lifetime perfecting drills and techniques, and understand how body control can enhance your partnering skills.
Simply Jazz with Ryan Francois Time: 3:45 – 5 pm
Get ready to sweat in this Ryan-style Vernacular Jazz routine! Dance to Duke Ellington’s Rocking in Rhythm until you drop or the song ends. Some experience with jazz vernacular is needed. Not recommended for the average beginner, but everyone is welcome to join in the fun!
