The Great Southwest Lindyfest

Our dear Lindy hop community, We are so excited to announce that The Great Southwest Lindyfest is coming back to Houston! The past few years have been full of challenges and changes, as communities and events reopen and resume. We are looking forward to all of the exciting new facets of the event that we’ll be sharing with you as we get closer to March, and we’d like to start with one big announcement: Lindyfest has a new event director! Tena and Scott have been our fearless leaders for many years since Lindyfest merged with The Lonestar Championships, and have crafted this weekend event into the annual reunion that we all know and love. As they work on many projects, including growing the International Lindy Hop Championships, they are entrusting this well-loved Texas event to Alesandra Bull! Tena, Scott, and Aley have all worked hard on this seamless transition, and Aley is excited to take the lead on an event that holds such a special place in all of our hearts. Never fear: You will still see plenty of Tena and Scott around Lindyfest as they take on new roles. We can’t wait to dance with you in Houston! Alesandra, Tena, and Scott

Thursday Community Night

• Free evening beginner lesson around 8 pm

• Special rhythms class for attendees at 8 pm

• Free evening social dance until 12 midnight

• Late night attendee dance held in the Rose Garden at 12:30 am

Friday

• Track class auditions at 9 am

• Track classes until 4 pm

• All competition prelims 5-7 pm

• Evening dance with the Golden Hour Orchestra at 9 pm

• Late-night dance starts with free snacks and a free-to-enter contest

• Late-late-night dance held in the Rose Garden at 2:30 am

Saturday

• Community brunch at 9:30 am

• Classes begin at 11 am

• First day of beginner track classes

• All Track classes until 3:30 pm

• Add on classes 3:40-7 pm

• Vino&Vinyl 6:30-8:30 pm

• Evening dance with Golden Hour Orchestra at 9 pm

• Late-night dance starts with free snacks and a free-to-enter contest

• Late-late-night dance held in the Rose Garden at 2:30 am

Sunday

• Community brunch at 9:30 am

• Classes begin at 11 am

• The second day of beginner track classes

• All Track classes until 1:30 pm

• Vino&Vinyl 1:30-3:30 pm

• Add-on classes at 2:30 pm

• Competition finals 4 – 5:30 pm

• Thank you and awards at 5:30 pm

• Add-on classes 6:20-8:30 pm

• Our closing dance begins at 8:30 pm

• Late night in the Rose Garden at 12:30 am
